We consider ourselves spiritual but not religious.  Can you perform a ceremony that respects these values?

Absolutely.  This is the most common type of celebration I do.  I too share your values and consider myself spiritual but not religious.

What makes you unique among wedding officiants?

I offer a very personalized approach to ceremony planning.  Each ceremony is created after in-depth discussions with the couple over 3 meetings of 3+ hours each, often over lunch or dinner.  These are fun meetings because I want to hear about how the two of you met, your interests, your spirituality, why you are attracted to each other, and your beliefs about marriage.  Then we are able to create a personalized ceremony that reflects your personality and values.

There are many good officiants who can do a great job.  If you interview 2 or 3 you will get an appreciation of how they can each be excellent yet so very different in their approach.  It makes sense for you to take the time to find one whose personality and style is an excellent match for you.

Is there a type of wedding ceremony that you do NOT perform?

I prefer not to "just officiate."  It is important to me to work closely with you in the planning phase of the ceremony, really get to know you, and then finally to officiate at it.

What fee do you charge for officiating at a wedding?

It varies depending on how elaborate a service you want, how much planning will be required, if you want anything special at the rehearsal, and if any traveling is involved outside the Denver metro area.

How soon before my wedding date should I begin to call and interview potential officiants?

A good guideline for weddings during the peak season (May - October) is a minimum of five to six months, but even nine months in advance is common.  In the off season three months in advance is usually sufficient.

Do you do outdoor weddings?

Yes, the location is entirely up to you.

Do you do last minute weddings?

Sometimes!  On occasion it is possible to book a last minute wedding, provided there is enough time to plan a nice personalized ceremony over 3 meetings.  Just call to make sure I am available.

Do you perform same-sex ceremonies?

Yes.  In Colorado it is not legal to "marry" per se, but I am happy to assist you in preparing a ceremony that will honor the love and commitment you have for each other.

Does it matter what my spiritual background is?

No.  I have had exposure to a variety of traditions and can accommodate most anything you desire.  I have worked with many couples where one may have a Christian, Jewish, or Buddhist background, and where one or both consider themselves atheist, agnostic, or spiritual.  If you desire something I cannot do, I will let you know.

Do you do weddings in Spanish?

Sí, puedo celebrar tu boda en español.

Would you co-officiate with a rabbi or minister of a different denomination?

That is possible, provided that time is allowed for a good channel of communication between the ministers prior to the wedding.  This is often a good compromise when a couple has strong ties to two different backgrounds.

Do you do Catholic weddings?

Yes and no.

Yes - Since I was ordained in the Roman Catholic church, I have performed many Catholic weddings and I'm quite cognizant of Catholic theology.  I have much experience in creating a ceremony that has Catholic elements, yet also embodies the spirituality of the couple which may be quite different.

No - Since I formally left the Roman Catholic church several years ago, the wedding will not be an official church wedding.

Do you offer other services besides weddings?

Yes!  See the All Services page.
